The satirist-journalist
Simon Sharman is an award-winning British documentary filmmaker and satirist. He began in television at ITV, presenting entertainment shows and interviewing stars, before producing Channel 4's The Big Breakfast and writing and presenting the BBC series Liquid Assets, which investigated the fortunes of music's biggest stars — Whitney Houston, P. Diddy and Oasis among them.
His debut feature, Cosmic Whistleblowers (2015) — an investigation of UFO conspiracy culture — won the Indie Spirit Award at the Melbourne Indie Film Festival (2016), was sold at MIPCOM, and streamed internationally on Amazon Prime, GAIA and YouTube Movies & TV.
Through The Apocalypse Is Cancelled, his multi-format editorial brand spanning podcast, YouTube and live stage shows, he investigates the doom economy: who starts apocalypse narratives, who spreads them, and who profits from them.
His work sits in the tradition of the satirist-journalist — rigorous about facts, curious about believers, and merciless about the machinery that sells the end of the world. He has been following the money since 2003, and he shoots, produces and edits from his own studio in the UK.
